About Dream Theater
Dream Theater formed in 1985 when Mike Portnoy, John Petrucci and John Myung met at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. They became the best-known progressive metal band in the world, with albums such as Images and Words, Awake and Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory.
Their music combines heavy riffs, long compositions, odd time signatures and virtuoso playing. Mike Portnoy left in 2010 and returned in 2023. For drummers, Dream Theater songs are the ultimate test of reading, technique and stamina.
