About Pantera
Pantera formed in Texas in 1981, led by brothers Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul Abbott. With singer Phil Anselmo, they reinvented themselves on Cowboys from Hell (1990) and defined groove metal on Vulgar Display of Power (1992) and Far Beyond Driven (1994).
Pantera’s music is built on heavy, syncopated riffs and tight unisons between guitar and drums. Their songs are a must for metal drummers who want to learn how to make heavy music groove.
Drumming on Pantera songs
Vinnie Paul’s playing defined groove metal: heavy, precise and locked tightly with Dimebag Darrell’s syncopated riffs, with powerful double bass and big accents. Pantera songs teach metal drummers to play heavy without losing the groove.
