About Rush
Rush were a Canadian trio – Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart – who became one of the most important bands in progressive rock. Albums such as 2112, Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures combined complex arrangements with big hooks.
Rush were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. For drummers, Neil Peart’s carefully composed parts make Rush songs some of the most studied in rock.
Drumming on Rush songs
Neil Peart composed his drum parts like a songwriter: every fill is planned and played the same way every night. His drumming combines technique, odd time signatures and musical ideas – and his parts are among the most studied in rock.
