Feeling Good drum sheet music – a note-for-note accurate transcription of Dominic Howard’s drum part on Muse’s “Feeling Good”, from the album Origin Of Symmetry (2001). From the quiet opening to the crushing finale, the whole drum part is written out in a clean, print-ready PDF.
About Feeling Good drum sheet music
“Feeling Good” was written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse for the 1964 musical The Roar of the Greasepaint – The Smell of the Crowd and made famous by Nina Simone. Muse recorded their own dramatic version for Origin Of Symmetry and released it as a double A-side single with “Hyper Music” in 2001.
Dominic Howard’s part follows the song’s huge change in mood. It starts sparse and atmospheric, leaving room for the voice and piano, and ends in a heavy, crushing finale. That makes it a perfect study in dynamics and building intensity: the quiet sections need control and patience, and the loud sections need power without losing time.
A drum transcription taken from the original recording
This Feeling Good drum transcription was written bar by bar from Muse’s studio recording and checked against the track. It is not a live take and nothing is simplified – these are the Feeling Good drum notes exactly as they were played on the record.
The notation is clean and professionally engraved, with clearly marked sections and repeats, so it is quick to find your place when you jump to a fill or a chorus. Print it for your music stand or keep it on a tablet – both work well.

How to practise Feeling Good on drums
A step-by-step way to learn Feeling Good on drums with the sheet music:
- Listen with the sheet music. Mark where the song moves from the quiet sections to the heavy ones.
- Practise the quiet parts first. Play them softly with a metronome – control is harder than power.
- Build the intensity gradually. Practise the transitions so each section is a step up, not a jump.
- Learn the heavy finale. Work on the big fills and keep the time steady at full volume.
- Play with the record. Follow Matt Bellamy’s vocal and piano phrasing in the open sections.
- Record yourself. Check that the quiet parts stay in time and the loud parts don’t rush.
Why note-for-note sheet music?
Most free Feeling Good drum tabs are rough sketches – the main groove, maybe a fill or two, and rhythms that are hard to read. Note-for-note sheet music shows exactly what was played and when, so you learn the real part instead of an approximation, and you learn it faster.
Who is this sheet music for?
This sheet music suits intermediate drummers who want to work on dynamics, and Muse fans and cover bands who want the part exactly like the record. It is also a great teaching piece for building intensity through a song.

Frequently asked questions
Does the sheet music cover the whole of Feeling Good?
Yes – every section from the first bar to the last, exactly as played on the original recording. It is not a shortened or simplified version.
Is it written as drum tabs or as drum notation?
As standard drum notation on a five-line staff. Tabs can show which drum to hit but not the exact rhythm – notation shows both.
How do I get the PDF after I buy?
The download link appears straight after checkout and is also sent to your email. You can print the PDF or read it on a tablet.
Is Muse’s Feeling Good hard on drums?
It is mid-level. The groove itself is not complicated, but the big dynamic changes and the heavy finale need good control.
